Trying to figure out the internship process is kind of terrifying.
So, I want to get into theater/television/film production, particularly writing and editing, and there is a specific scholarship MoHo has for budding screenwriters. There’s the Nexus program, which is a minor, which has very specific requirements, but provides you with a very, very good educational experience AND resume when you’re done. I have 24 credits that carried over from high school - over a semester’s worth - that could potentially get me out of a semester. This means I could start an internship in January and go straight through to the summer. That would be awesome, but if I don’t enroll in the spring semester, do I get credit for the internship? I don’t know. I am so confused by this whole process.
The main thing I’m looking at here is interning on a soundstage in New York City. David Letterman has an awesome internship program, for example, which runs January through May, is full-time, and offers academic credit if your college will accept it. I’m just not sure how MoHo would work with it. I also don’t want to email my advisor the day before the last day of semester to throw all of these questions at her. That’s just not nice.
I will, however, email her soon, even if she’s super new to the process and probably won’t be able to help me. Maybe I should email the Career Development Center? I don’t know.
Anyway. This is my life. What am I going to do with it? Are there any MoHo’s here that can give me any guidance?
